It was manufactured by THE MECHANICAL EDUCATOR COMPANY in Cleveland, Ohio. It says on its label, “FOR TEACHING THE FOUR FUNDAMENTALS”. The machine made entirely of metal and is in two parts, the machine and its stand. The machine measures 30 inches tall and is 14 inches in diameter. It sits on a metal stand that is 33 inches tall. So when on its stand it is an impressive 64 inches tall. The machine has ten little windows on the outside with little metal doors that can be closed on each window. Inside there is a revolving drum with rows of numbers that show up in the windows when turned. We are not sure how it was used but appears to have been made to illustrate math. We are told that this machine was manufactured in the 19th century and that there is a Visigraph like this in the Schoolhouse display at the Smithsonian Institution. Both the machine and stand are in good working condition. There are some dings and dents on the machine as well as some rust, mainly on its top. The little metal doors that slide to close the windows are missing on one of the windows and one of the doors is slightly bent on another. All and all it is very good considering its age and most likely years of schoolhouse use. Shipping and insurance will be actual cost plus $25.00 for packing and handling. These items will most likely have to be packed and shipped in two separate crates, which will take some time and substantial packing material to make certain that they will not sustain any damage in transit.
